Jenny McIlhatton is a textile artist from Belfast, Northern Ireland. The power of change and exploration of alternative worlds are central to her work. Using fashion waste, sustainability is at the core of her practice. Traditional and laborious hand processes are used to redefine what was seen as “women’s work”.
In 2023 Jenny was a grantee of the British council in the Philippines and the Forest preservation (PH) to work in conversation and collaboration with the Indigenous Kalandang weavers, the works created for this project will be shown at the CHE Museum Manila December 2023. She has also taken part in the prestigious PADA residency in Portugal 2023 and won a judges choice award at the world Festival of Quilts 2022.
