Stunning museum print by the brilliant Louise Bourgeois, another detail from one of her textiles.
The piece reads 'I Love You, Do You Love Me?' The words and variations of the phrase have appeared a number of times in works by Bourgeois.
Bourgeois, according to those close to her, was deeply affectionate... particularly with those she loved the most. In her own words 'I transform hate into love... that's what makes me tick'.
Louise Bourgeois is of course one of the world's most revered artists. She never really fit into any particular genre of art, Bourgeois was more of a tour-de-force across genres... from her beautiful and delicate textiles, to her enormous brass spider sculptures... she explored domesticity, the family, sexuality, motherhood the body.
