David Hockney
A joyous vintage David Hockney poster of his beloved dachsunds sleeping.
Dachsunds, perhaps better known as 'Sausage Dogs' are something of the artists dog of choice. Picasso had 'Lump', Warhol loved his 'Archie' and Hockney adored 'Stanley' and 'Boodge'.
Hockney's Sausage Dogs were the subject of a 1995 exhibition compromising of 45 paintings. It was a difficult time for Hockney, four of his close friends had died in the AIDS epidemic, yet his paintings are full of joy and tenderous for his dearest companions.
In great condition for a 30 year old poster, some minor yellowing along the bottom of the print.
