Louise Bourgeois
White mat board border
Stunning museum print by the brilliant Louise Bourgeois, a print of one of her famous handkerchiefs 'I Have Been to Hell and Back... and Let Me Tell You it was Wonderful'.
Louise Bourgeois is of course one of the world's most revered artists. She never really fit into any particular genre of art, Bourgeois was more of a tour-de-force across genres... from her beautiful and delicate textiles, to her enormous brass spider sculptures... she explored domesticity, the family, sexuality, motherhood the body.
This pithy line, embroidered onto a handkerchief was first created in 1996. A further edition of 1000 was created for Bourgeois retrospective at Tate Modern in 2007... originally sold in the gift shop they now command auction prices of thousands of pounds.
