'Magical Thinking' references Cornelis de Vos' painting in the Wallace Collection in London. The title is a nod to the layer mystical subjectivity with which we engage the world.
Cornelis de Vos was a Flemish painter, printer and art dealer know for his sensitive portraits of children and family life. Stylistically he has been compared to Rubens and van Dyck, yet his subjects are more down to earth, his sitters were members of the bourgeoisie rather than aristocracy.
Working with printers Make-Ready in London the result is a tactile print with intentional irregularities. An homage to traditional techniques and a celebration of modern silkscreen printing.
